Crooked Tree Hazelnuts is a small Tasmanian business owned and operated by David and Sally Brown.

Our property, Shipyards Orchard, overlooks Crooked Tree Point at Port Cygnet in Tasmania’s beautiful Huon region. Formerly an apple orchard, the trees were removed in 2001.  In the winter of 2010, we planted just over a thousand one-year-old hazelnut trees.

Autumn is harvest time; the nuts fall to the ground and are collected over a period of several weeks through March and April. The nuts are then allowed to air-dry naturally for a further few weeks. We store the hazelnuts in the shell for maximum freshness, cracking and roasting small batches as required. Our roasted hazelnuts are available from the beginning of July each year until sold out, usually around 6 months later.

Thank-you to all our wonderful customers. Regretfully our hazelnuts are currently unavailable as we have now sold out for the 2024 season. We expect to the new season’s nuts to be available for purchase around July 2025. Many Thanks, David and Sally

Crooked Tree Hazelnuts are available to buy directly from us from July onward, at the Cygnet Market, where we sell roasted hazelnuts packaged in 100g, 500g and 1kg sizes.  Cygnet Market is held on the first and third Sundays of each month from 10am – 2pm in the Town Hall, Mary Street, Cygnet. If you live interstate or are unable to come to Cygnet Market, we are happy to post our hazelnuts Australia-wide.
